Felted journal covers for Christmas

I have made two felted journal covers for last minute Christmas gifts. Both have a base of three layers of undyed merino. Over the merino I laid a few prefelt flowers. They were quite thin so the background would felt through to give it a two dimensional feel. Over that I put some scraps of hand-dyed silk and throwers waste.
I used a small resist in each cover so there is a space for a pen to slide into (you can just see the chopstick in the rear pen hole holding it open). I've also felted some pink merino as a bookmark.
When the felt is fully dry I will just zigzag around the edges to provide the sleeve to fit an A5 notebook into.
I'm very pleased with the result on this - almost impressionist.
