Felted Cowl

This wasnt a wildly exciting piece but I like the subtlety of the white on white with just a little bit of tussah silk for some colour and contrast.

It was actually a little more technically difficult than the finished product indicates. I used the nui shibori stitching to shape the front - you cant see it but it is under the cowl and some bamboo batting for the white shapes.

The interesting part was putting the shapes on the top half  directly onto the resist and then the bottom half onto the final layer of wool. This allowed the shapes on the top to be seen when the cowl was folded over.
I pre-felted with the top shapes in place against the resist, let it dry, did the nui shibori stitching then wet it down and continued, adding the bottom shapes.
